Your Second Chance Smile

Man with implant dentures in Idaho Falls

Everyone deserves to enjoy a healthy, beautiful smile. When missing teeth take away the ability to eat, speak, and smile with ease, it can make a person wonder if they’ll ever have a second chance to enjoy all the simple pleasures that come with life again. While traditional dentures can make it easier, they fall short in providing optimal stability and longevity. This is where our dentist at Cline Family & Cosmetic Dentistry of Idaho Falls comes in! With implant dentures in Idaho Falls, we can improve the look and function of your smile so that you can enjoy and embrace a better quality of life. Contact us today to request an appointment.

What Are Implant Dentures?

Implant dentures in Idaho Falls

Stability, functionality, pleasing aesthetics, and longevity are all vital components of an effective dental prosthetic. While many tooth replacements attempt to possess these qualities, many do not. The only exception is dental implants in Idaho Falls. Consisting of three parts – the titanium post, metal abutment, and customized restoration – they replace an entire arch of missing teeth and fit into the jawbone, fusing over time to create a firm foundation for your new teeth.

When meeting with Dr. Cline for your initial consultation, he will go over the two types of implant dentures you can receive:

Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures

Also referred to as a hybrid denture, this fixed prosthetic uses between four and eight dental implants to remain firmly in place. It cannot be removed by anyone other than a skilled implant dentist, and it is easy to clean with simple products used in your regular oral hygiene routine.

Removable Implant Dentures

Commonly known as a “Snap-On denture,” this removable prosthetic does not require as much jawbone density and only needs between two and five dental implants. It is held into place with a bar or ball-retained device that allows for easy removal and attachment.

The Implant Denture Process

The process of receiving dental implants is timely, but it is certainly worth the time and money spent. Although you cannot expect to receive your new and improved smile in just days, you’ll consider it a worthwhile investment once your teeth are in place.

But before you see the final result, you must complete the four-step process:

  • Initial Consultation – Cline will evaluate your smile using digital imaging and a visual examination to determine if you’re a candidate for treatment. You may also need preliminary care (i.e., periodontal therapy, bone grafting) before moving forward with oral surgery.
  • Dental Implant Surgery – Staying in one location, you can undergo your dental implant surgery in-house. We’ll administer anesthesia before inserting each implant post into the jawbone.
  • Osseointegration – You’ll spend the next 3-6 months recovering at home and allowing osseointegration to take place. This is the fusing of the implant posts with the bone tissues to create a solid foundation.
  • Final Placement of Restoration – The last step is to receive your customized denture. Once you’re fully healed, you’ll return to our office to have Dr. Cline secure your implant denture, allowing you to begin enjoying your new smile.

Am I a Candidate for Implant Dentures?

Candidates for implant dentures are typically adults who have lost all their natural teeth in one or both arches. If you are without any remaining healthy teeth, make sure to schedule a consultation with Dr. Cline. We will evaluate your oral anatomy with the help of advanced dental technology. Once we better understand the status of your oral and overall health as well as your jawbone density, we can prepare a plan that meets your needs and put you one step closer to a fully restored, beautiful smile.
