Bringing a Smile Back to Your Face!
Restorative dentistry addresses both the cosmetic and the oral health needs of a patient. The procedures are designed to improve the look of one’s smile while also providing needed care so your mouth is healthy and your smile will radiate for years to come.
The most common types of restorative dentistry performed at our Idaho Falls office are dental implants, dentures, tooth colored fillings, and inlays and onlays.
At Oxford Dental Care, we love helping people restore their smiles. Helping patients get to a point where they love smiling again is the reason we do dentistry!
An Amazing Option for Tooth Replacement
Dental implants are not just for cosmetic purposes. Having a gap in your mouth where a tooth is supposed to be can make the surrounding teeth vulnerable to plaque buildup and other harmful bacteria. Having missing teeth also puts extra and uneven pressure on the rest of your teeth, which can wear them down unevenly as well as make them more susceptible to breakage.
Essentially a dental implant is a metal post or frame that is surgically placed into the jawbone underneath the patient’s gum line. Once the post is installed, the dentist is able to mount the replacement tooth on top of the post. They’re considered the next best thing to your natural teeth because they’re strong, built to last and most closely resemble your actual teeth.

Quickly Restore Multiple Missing Teeth
Patients with a few or several missing teeth may opt for dentures. There are options for either a full or partial set of dentures.
There are three types of dentures to choose from: conventional, immediate and overdenture.
- Conventional dentures are fully removable but require your mouth to heal for up to several months while the tissues heal after all of the tooth extractions.
- Immediate dentures can be used on the same day that the patient’s teeth have been removed, which is convenient because the patient doesn’t have to live without teeth during the period they would with conventional dentures.
- Overdentures are used when some of the patient’s teeth have been preserved. The overdenture fits over the remaining teeth.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Natural Looking, Long Lasting Fillings
As concerns about mercury become more prevalent, many dentists now choose to use tooth-colored fillings instead of amalgam, or even a neutral colored composite. Other than limiting exposure to toxins, the main benefit of these types of fillings is that no one can tell that you have fillings if they happen to poke their curious head into your mouth.
In our office, you can expect high quality tooth colored fillings that are done in a manner that will help them be durable and look exceptional!
Inlays and Onlays
For Teeth That Need a Little Extra Coverage
Inlays and onlays are treatments that dentists use for teeth that are too damaged or decayed to be treated with a filling, but not degraded enough to need a crown. By using inlays and onlays, the dentist is able to conserve more of the patient’s tooth and surround structure.
They’re also used when the dentist needs to replace an old filling. In this case, the inlay fits inside of the top edges of the tooth, known as the cusp tips. Onlays, on the other hand, are more extensive, and fit over the edges of the cusps.
